Discovery

MSRA is actively involved in discovering shipwrecks off West Michigan in the area between the Indiana border and Pentwater. There are dozens of shipwrecks presumed to have gone down in this area, and many are yet to be discovered. Many others ran aground and were dashed to pieces by the surf, leaving little of interest. Still others are buried just under the sand -- some surprisingly close to shore.

The list below contains most of the shipwrecks within the survey area. The list is broken down into four categories: Wrecks whose location is known, wreck that are still missing, shore wrecks that have broken up or been removed, and missing aircraft.

Click on the vessel names to read the story about that wreck. Visit our Diving page for a map showing the general location of each wreck.

MSRA attempts to gather as much information as possible about each missing vessel so that when a discovery is made, identification may be easier. Anyone with information about a possible shipwreck location is asked to contact MSRA.
